The "season" runs from about mid-April until late October.
Carp eat in the colder months, too, but I have more confidence taking clients out
when it's warm and the weather is stable. Sunny, cloudless days are best. Our
normal 5-10 mph Southeast winds are ok; when the wind is much over 15 or the day is
pretty cloudy we may have to reschedule.
We will aim to be on the water at 9 am and spend the day walking and wading for carp.
We'll use my boat to get from one flat to the next and so we can quickly reposition
ourselves if a flat happens to be mostly empty of good carp targets. If there are
two of you, you will take 1/2 hour turns wading point with me and taking the shots at
fish. The angler in the back is free to take any shots that present themselves, but
this way each person gets a good first crack at the unspooked fish.
I will provide water, lunch, and all necessary fishing equipment. Lunch is not fancy,
I do not want you to get overheated. It's best to eat a little light. I will most likely
bring some very simple cold cut sandwiches on wheat bread and a little potato salad or chips.
Please wear high-top shoes, whether they are wading boots, or, even better; flats
booties. The ground is soft in some places and will try to steal a low-top shoe.
